Porsche Carrera Cup GB Eligible Car:
911 GT3 Cup Type 997 MKII (MY2010 – 2013)
The latest development of the superb 911GT3 Cup car is stronger, wider and faster than its predecessor and is the first GT3 Cup to be based on the 911 GT3 RS. It is powered by the same 3800cc engine as the 911 GT3 RS, delivering 450bhp at 8500rpm; an increase of 30bhp over the previous model.
This the first GT3 Cup to feature the 44 millimetre wider body at the rear, providing space for even larger wheels. Wider wheel arches at the front also allow the use of new front wheels.
On-track, the new car offers more rear downforce with the rear wing being both wider and higher. Power is delivered through a sequential six-speed manual gearbox and the complete package weighs in at just under 1200kg.
Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge GB Eligible Cars:
The Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge GB is combined of two classes to accommodate the Porsche 997 MKI GT3 Cup Car (Class 1) and the Porsche 996 GT3 Cup Car (Class 2).
Class 1: 911 GT3 Cup Tpye 997 MK1 (2006-2009)
With more than 1400 cars produced, the Porsche 997 GT3 Cup Car is the bestselling racing car of all time. Originally introduced in the 2005 Porsche Supercup, it is powered by the iconic 3.6 litre flat-six, producing 400bhp at 7,300rpm, with an increase to 425bhp at 7,500rpm for 2008-2009 models. With a revised aero package the 997 GT3 Cup Car generates 40% more downforce than the 996 GT3 Cup Car, predominantly through its wider and higher rear wing. All 997 GT3 Cup cars are fitted with the Porsche sequential gearbox, however drivers can run an optional ‘blipper’ while they master the art of heel-and-toe.
Class 2: 996 GT3 Cup Car (1999-2004)
The first ever racing car to christen the new era of water-cooled Porsches, the original 996 GT3 Cup Car delivers 370bhp at 7,200rpm allowing it to boast a 0-62mph time in under four seconds and a top speed of 177mph.
All cars are eligible to upgrade to the 2004 spec-modifications with increased engine performance of 400bhp at 7,300rpm and maximum torque to 390Nm at 6,300rpm, along with further aerodynamic optimisation.
All 996 GT3 Cup cars are fitted with a six-speed manual gearbox and with cheaper buying and running costs, makes this an attractive entry-level option to new drivers.
